About Rumpelrausch Täips

It all started in the early 90s.

The first CD burners were on the market, and my little home studio featured a heavy rack holding half a dozen second-hand midi expanders. At first it was all just a 4-track cassette recorder with one track holding a midi timecode, controlling an Atari ST with an early Cubase version. The archive format was a VHS cassette, later a DAT tape.

Most of the early tapes and the burned CDs were lost in time until I got my DAT walkman running again, so I resampled what I could salvage.

As a programmer I got interested in C++ and the creation of audio plugins. In 2000 the first instrument was released, "ZR-1", already containing most of the technologies later used for "Crazy Diamonds" and "AZR3". It was real fun to convert knowledge about analogue circuits into code.
